ARWONS LITTLE ANGELS
February 2012
A Word From Lesley
Hello Everyone,
Welcome back to all our families returning for the first time this year after an extended break!
I would also like to say a big warm “HELLO” to the new families who have joined us here at Arwons Little Angels during January. Welcome to the Arwon’s family. We look forward to enjoying a very long, happy and rewarding relationship with you and your children.
Please remember that it is imperative that I am able to contact you in the event of an emergency. I need to have correct phone numbers for you and all of your authorized contacts. In the past few weeks I have had to ring parents of sick children, only to findthat their phones were disconnected or “turned off”. As you can imagine, this is very frustrating for me as well as distressing for the child involved.
Lipstick Fundraiser
Please support our Lipstick fundraiser which is our first for the year. Our friendly Nutrimetics consultant, Lisa Grubb, who is also one of our parents, has organized for us to receive $1 from the sale of each $10 lipstick. This is a great opportunity to get your friends, family & co workers to help us raise funds as well as to try some great, very affordable products as well! Order forms are in your wall pockets, however, if you require extra forms, please ask! We were disappointed with last years’ response & hope that with so many new families on board the orders will be flooding in. Remember that all funds raised help us to provide your children with extra resources to enhance their learning.
Water Bottles
Children in the Ladybird, Caterpillar & Butterflies’ Room are required to have their own water bottles. Lately we have been noticing that some children regularly arrive without one. We keep the water bottles in the rooms so that the children have access to water at all times. This is especially important in the extreme heat which we have been experiencing recently. When we take the children outside, we also take their drink bottles. We ask you to fill the bottles with water only, NOT MILK OR JUICE. We also request that the bottles come with a lid, for hygiene purposes, as they will be sitting in a basket with other drink bottles. Naturally, children are given cups of water if they have forgotten their drink bottles, but lately the cup washing up has been escalating & with milk & water being given at lunch, morning and afternoon tea, we are using upwards of 200 cups per day! Try to familiarize your child with their bottle and please ensure that the bottle has the child’s name written clearly on a label. Please remember to take your child’s drink bottle home for cleaning at the end of their week.
Discipline
There is a great deal of talk about how people should/should not discipline their children. I am including in this edition of the newsletter some strategies that you can use that we find very effective in maintaining order in such a busy environment such as here at Arwons Little Angels.
Wedding News
Congratulations to Charmaine & Matthew (Roman’s parents) on their wedding in January. We wish you both many years of happiness together.

News From The Ladybugs’ Room
Hello To All Families,
What a pleasure to have met all my new little Ladybugs. They are all very special children. It was a slow start to the year, getting the children into routine and familiar with their new environment. We have been painting and colouring in, counting and learning how certain numbers look.
There will be a parent information evening in February and all the ladybugs’ parents are welcome to attend. For more information, just keep an eye on your child’s pocket.
Please ensure that you have packed enough food to last your child during the day. Some children are still hungry after they have finished the contents of their lunchboxes. Chocolate, lollies and fruit juices are not recommended. We are focusing on “healthy food.”
Lots of greetings,
Franchel
News From The Butterflies’ Room.
Hello To All Parents and Families,
In the month of January we started our room program and our fortnightly themes. For ‘Our Feet” we planned a lot of activities such as feet painting, exercises etc In group time, we also discussed about feet and how we use them every day.
Because there have been a couple of days that have been hot, we have had ice cream and ice block days as well as Beach Day. The Butterflies enjoyed this as they dressed up in their cozies and had fun getting wet with the sprinkler.
This month we are looking forward to some multicultural cooking experiences where we will be making our own Sushi
Just a reminder: Please make sure that your child has a hat, sunscreen on and a water bottle with them when they arrive at the Centre so that they stay safe and hydrated throughout the day.
Should you have any questions, please feel free to come and talk to our friendly Butterflies staff.
Finally, welcome to our new Butterflies Bella, Maddison, Thomas, Blake, Xavier & Jezzabella!
Thank You
‘Till next time,
Tegan, Jess, Jessie, Danijela and Mandy
News From The Caterpillars’ Room.
Hello To All Parents & Carers,
A big welcome to all of our new families and children. We hope that you enjoy your time with us at Arwons Little Angels!
Please make sure that all of your child’s belongings are clearly labeled to prevent them from getting lost. As it is in the middle of summer, please provide a drink bottle and hat for your child to take outside with them.
During group time we have been reading a book containing lots of different songs & a CD for the children to sing along to. The children request this book every time and they love singing “The Wheels On The Bus” and doing all the actions. At the moment they have also been really getting into the Wiggles. Their favourite is “Hot Potato”.
Finally we would like to welcome Eli & Riley to our room. We hope that you enjoy your time with us.

News From The Gloworms’ Room.
What a busy start to the year with our new Gloworms now settled into the room!
We are welcoming our new trainee, Taylor into the room this month. Rachel will still be doing the early shift (7.00 – 3.30) and Taylor (Tegan’s sister) will be doing the close shift. Sally will also be in the room during the day. This is to provide consistency for the children.
Please feel free to stop and have a chat with Taylor so that you can get to know her.
Please remember to label all your child’s belongings – dummies, clothes, cups, bottles, lunch box etc. Also please provide your child with a hat that can be left at the centre. If you require your child to use a special sunscreen (we use generic brands), please give it to the staff. This can also be left at the centre.
We have noticed that some children have been coming with creams, panadol etc in their bags. If your child needs to have any kind of medication or a cream needs to be applied, you must tell staff a & hand it to them as they need to be stored in a safe place and out of children’s reach.
Welcome our new Gloworm friends Jackson, Bailey, Leo, Neve, Arian, Taylor, William & Nicholas. We hope that you all enjoy your time in our room!
Finally, HAPPY 2ND BIRTHDAY to Riley & Hunter. We hope that they have a great time when the ymove into the Caterpillars’ Room!
